Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Program Description:

Nurse Aide Training Program consists of a minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 75 hours of clinical training as required by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). Excel Nurse Aide Training Program offers a total of 37 classroom hours which includes instructor demonstrations of the 72 Resident Care Procedures (RCP's) and a review of the 30 lessons based on the ISDH student manual. Also, a student will be provided with worksheets, clinical skill activities, and tests. After completing the classroom session, the student will be required to complete the 75 hours of practicum at an ISDH approved clinical site. Students are offered 16 hours of remediation to address and help those who are having difficulties with classroom materials and or performing resident care procedures. Also, students will attend 8 hours of mandatory review in preparation for the state test to be a Certified Nurse Aide.

Prerequisites Description:

Applicant should be at least 16 years old, must be able to read and write English, and able to understand basic Math addition and subtraction. Need to pass a statewide background check. Physical/TB examination is required and also an applicant must be able to perform physical duties under Certified Nurse Aide environmental demands. Uniforms will be any dark colored scrubs . Note: Tuition, first state testing fee, class material & text book, and criminal background check fees will be covered under the program cost see outline below.
