Instructors who present the Hot Shot Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing Course have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minimum 20 years experience in manufacturing, R&D, software development and/or business managament fields.
The Hot Shot Introduction to AdvancedManucturing course prepares the student with practical skills to get an entry level job in advance manufacturing industries. Every student will receive a Chromebook device and on-line access to 2D/3D Design Software required for the course to keep after completion. The main elements of instruction include: Learning how to use 2D Computer Aided Design software to create models for Laser Cutting and 3D Printing Building a 3D printer from scratch and learninging how to make parts with it. Operating an industrial Laser Cutter engraver and making parts with it. The course is organized around mixed in-person and on-line activities. Building and operating a 3D printer and operating the laser cutter will be presented in class at the WorkOne Indy location on Shadeland Avenue. Lectures and use of computers will be conducted in the Computer Lab at WorkOne Indy as well. Approximately two hours a week will be dedicated to learning about 2D/3D Computer Aided Design. Each Student will be provided with a Chromebook to access the web-based CAD software - INTERNET ACCESS IS REQUIRED. Students may access the Internet outside of classtime at the WorkOne Indy office during normal business hours.
Students must be able to attend all in-person course presentations, approximately 3.5 hours/week on Tuesday & Thursdays, and spend at least two hours a week learning the CAD software on-line. INTERNET IS REQUIRED.Your persistence and problem solving skills will be challenged. Bring your A game to each course session!
