Program Description:

Gifted Hands Academy Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to teach knowledge in technical, procedural and practical aspects of phlebotomy. In a small classroom setting, instructors will teach hands on practicum of operating as a certified phlebotomist. This program will teach students based on the following concepts: Introduction to Phlebotomy, Legal aspects of Phlebotomy, Professional Ethics, Human Relations Training, Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Phlebotomy Techniques, Infection Control, Clinical and Lab Procedures, Sterilization Techniques, Blood Borne Pathogens, Proper Venipuncture Techniques, Capillary Collections, Urinalysis, Specimen Transportation, and Special Procedures. This program will also provide a 8 hour certification training in First Aid and CPR for healthcare professionals in Infant, Child and Adult CPR and First Aid. This program is designed for individuals who want to advance their career in health care and for individuals looking to launch a new career. This is a comprehensive 64-hour program.

51.1009 Phlebotomy Technician/Phlebotomist A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians and other health care professionals, to draw blood samples from patients using a variety of intrusive procedures. Includes instruction in basic vascular anatomy and physiology, blood physiology, skin puncture techniques, venipuncture, venous specimen collection and handling, safety and sanitation procedures, and applicable standards and regulations.

Must have an up-to-date Tetanus Shot All applicants must be able to speak, read and understand English Must have a valid Driver’s license or a State I.D. Signed admissions statement and enrollment agreement
